Cheers: Niagara Route of Vélo-Québec’s 2014 Grand Tour

To Your Good Health and Cycling

Vélo-Québec has announced details including map and itinerary of its Grand Tour for 2014 (Aug. 2-8) taking cyclists through the bountiful wine country of the Canadian shore of Lake Erie and the Niagara Peninsula.

It will be the 21st Grand Tour and the venerable event can be expected to attract 2,000 or more cyclists, mostly from Quebec and among the fittest bons vivants in the world. This is a high-spirited group (in more ways than one), but is accommodating to people of all levels of cycling.

This is the link for details and itinerary which will take riders past dozens of vineyards:

More detailed maps of the cycling route along the shore of Lake Erie, inaugurated last year by the Waterfront Regeneration Trust, are available here:

I have hiked and biked through Nepal, Cuba and Mexico. I also maintain a busy schedule of adventure traveling in Canada. Many stories in the blog were originally published in the Travel Section of The Montreal Gazette. My web site is: https://davestravelsblog.wordpress.com
