Dozens of climbers have been converging on the summit of Mount Everest in recent weeks, a tribute to Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay who did it first on May 29, 1953. With the 60th anniversary at hand, you can read about the accomplishment in Hillary’s book, High Adventure, The True Story of The First Ascent of Everest. Hillary, his team and 400 porters hiked to the base camp from Kathmandu to set the stage for the historic climb. I hiked to Everest Base Camp nearly two years ago with my son and five friends.
